What is Brachioplasty?
Arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that is targeted to reduce sagging skin and excess tissue of the arm, and tighten the remaining tissue to provide a slimmer, more youthful appearance. Aging, weight loss, and genetic components can contribute to the severity of excess tissue a person may have. Often times, since the skin sags, and not the muscle, exercise and weight lifting cannot be effective in reducing the appearance.
Some of the Reasons for an Arm Lift Include:
- Weight loss, resulting in excess tissue and skin
- Reverse natural process of aging of the arm tissue
- Treat asymmetry, or reconstruction
Evaluation for Arm Lift
The first step is to schedule your consultation with Dr. Som Kohanzadeh, our experienced plastic surgeon. During your initial visit, Dr. Som will thoroughly discuss your specific cosmetic goals for arm lift. In some cases, your arm lift may need to be combined with additional procedures, such as liposuction, or simply targeting other areas you may desire to enhance. There are several variations of the procedure, targeted to your specific needs and focus of treatment, and in many cases the scar can be well-concealed. Dr. Som will discuss the various options during your evaluation, as well as spend time discussing the procedure in detail including potential risks and complications, and create a personalized plan to best achieve your cosmetic goals.
